Minutes of the regular monthly general membership meeting of Radio Rensselaer for November, 1984. Held November 11 at 1 PM. The meeting was called to order at 1:10 PM. Officer reports: Tech: Station appearance should be more of a concern. Some one stamped the wall of the station office with the "WRPI" stamp. This is unnecessary and ridiculous. A pep talk by Doug Lyon and John Lattyak followed along these lines. Take some pride in the station! The status of Control "C" is unchanged, due to a lack of input. If you're interested in it, see Doug. If you're looking for some serious stuff to do for the station, Doug is looking for people for a couple of jobs. One is to coordinate work on the satellite dish, and the other is to coordinate work on Control-"C". Station Manager: "It's deadly dull around the station managing ranch..." Public Relations: There are posters for the airband contest and also for the Dave Berg call-in show. They will be put up soon. If you're interested in helping, see Chris Pudlinski. The same goes for any PR-type stuff. President: Once again, a reminder to answer phones politely, page people twice on the public address if they're asked for by someone calling, and take messages if that person isn't present. I have been a little sluggish about doing the minutes for the last few weeks. Oh, well. I apologize. Others: Not sufficiently conscious to give reports. Constitutional Bylaw on Format: Was explained by Doug Lyon and discussed for a limited discussion of 20 minutes. When this time ran out, the issue currently under discussion was completed and it was agreed that the discussion was sufficient. The vote was 9-8-1, not a sufficient majority to pass a bylaw (2/3 is required). It was then moved (Doug Lyon, Brian Borchers) to make the document a policy, and this was passed 9-8-1. Business Manager Election: One of the candidates (Todd Cinnamon) failed to show, but the membership consensus was to hold the election any way. The other candidate was Stu Lachs. The final outcome was in favor of Stu. Old Business: Light bulbs: Station Manager's Business. THROB was requested to get on it and replace the ones not operating. Please don't put nasty comments on record labels. They don't help. You don't have to lie and say everything is wonderful, just be nice about whatever you say and try to keep it positive. Help with the airband contest. New Business: THROB told everyone to "do giveaways right." The next meeting will be on December 2 at 3 PM. We will have elections, so BE THERE! (and run for office if you're psyched -- this requires showing up to an E-Comm meeting before then and asking for nomination -- if you can't make a meeting, see an E- Comm member as far in advance as possible) The meeting was adjourned at 3:23. See you next month! Be well.
